Is there a way to remove the glow effect on the command block, missiles projectiles etc.. ?

The size of the glow is controlled by the cvar kCommandHaloSize. kCommandHaloSize[0] makes irregularly (non-round) shaped blocks glow more brightly and kCommandHaloSize[1] makes higher P ships glow more brightly. You should be able to turn off the glow entirely by setting something like:

Is there a way to remove the glow effect for a specific faction? I thought that modifying cvars modifies the overall game, not a specific faction.

For that matter, is there any way to properly remove things like thruster trails or shield glow? I'm working on modding a faction that gives the impression of having reactionless drives. I can get close if I set the relevant colors to an ALMOST-transparent ALMOST-black. Setting to pure-transparent or pure-black causes weird stuff to happen.
