BSF, Battleships Forever. It is another rather complex ship making game, however ships don't use physics, and it is sandbox from the start. There is a very limited storyline with progression into predefined ships. While there is a ship maker, you can't use those ships in the missions. You can also edit the individual weapons themselves. Needless to say, it completely breaks the game.

Personally I think Bubble Tanks Arenas is the next step from BSF, the next being shellcore command, and then this game, if executed well, will top the list; adding new features such as a smooth game engine even under ridiculous load, physics, part regeneration. The rest of the features are bits and pieces of the other three games that I mentioned. Combining them is awesome.

From the looks of it, Your game is gearing up to be a fast-paced singleplayer 2D version of Space Engineers.

Man, nearly a year into development and I had never heard of any of these games until just now. I need to go play them all! Battleships Forever may have lacking mechanics, but it is incredibly gorgeous. For now, back to work!

Two more early release game that have popped up are Starmade and BossConstructor.

Saw another one on TIGsource today: Space DM. Great bloom and particle effects, shield shaders. I like their heat transfer mechanic too.

BossConstructor even has pretty similar thruster particle effects! It's almost like a whole generation grew up playing with legos and dreaming about spaceships, and suddenly they all had the skills to produce computer games....

You are warming my heart!

I've been fixing bugs as fast as I can, making sure the save game files are in the right directory, optimizing the simulation, tuning the 3d sound effect parameters, etc, etc. It will be ready soon!

Ahh great.

I must admit, "Space DM" seems to have higher quality effects, but i feel as though these games require simple graphics to ensure that it runs smooth, and thus allow more badass ships.
