Relatively new to the game here and after watching a few videos I decided to see about entering a tournament.
Question though. The mobility test fleet you have set up for minimum levels, do my ships have to match that mobility in all axis of movement or just their primary (ie going forwards)?

In the past he has referred to it as a chase test, so if you can pass primary movement you should be in a good spot. Traditionally tournament hosts have been pretty lenient regarding mobility, so if you pass primary mobility and perform better than half the mobility of the chase ship when moving sideways/backwards rotating clockwise/counterclockwise, I'm sure Mons will show mercy (probably the solid way to test rear/sideways mobility is to rotate the command modules on both ships for every test).

*Disclaimer: I'm not Mons

Thanks. I'm going to have to do some more modifications then. They're slugs in reverse.

I'm sure you can *get away* with slugs in reverse if you submit early with a mention about it in the e-mail and see if he accepts it, but if you're going to be doing a last minute submission probably better to be on the safe side.

I mainly compare two things when comparing a ship to Opponent:

1) Your ship has to be able to close the distance to Target faster than Opponent can. This isn't that high of a bar.

2) Your ship has to be able to maneuver and help clear a field of Targets (my test fleet I've been using 40, so there are plenty to engage).

Basically, what I've been doing is comparing how fast your ship gets to Target, engages it, and then switches to a different Target to engage that. Opponent has equal thrust in every direction, I don't expect that from every submission. For next tournament I'll actually be tweaking Opponent some more.

I've been allowing ships with less lateral movement than Opponent, but only if their forward movement meets or exceeds Opponent's (with the obvious exception that if you're using long-ranged ships, their mobility is likely to be higher by necessity anyway. Ships with sufficient maneuverability here become readily apparent). This way I can guarantee all fights will involve ships actually engaging each other and the chance of having two trollships stand off and fire missiles at each other from across the map (which isn't entertaining to watch) is none.

Guess he didn't make the end-of-week deadline~

Guess that means the update should be better than I expected~❤

About three and a half hour until the tournament begins.

Alas, couldn't come up with anything good to enter for this one. Perhaps next time.
